鸿篇巨制，细节极其丰富而又有宏大眼光的考察。Terminology检视之细致为英语学界少有，拆Mommsen打Martino的学术史地位，构建了希腊本位的共和国史，经典的“罗马史不过是希腊史分支”作品。许多观点如今很难撼动，政治运作的表述成了Eckstein撕他的入手点【虽然我不喜欢E】。该领域绝对的必读书。读的时候还请多多检视原始材料，偶有疏失。
