Cheever 有種瞬間睏住讀者的敘事能力，他的故事中人物都像睏獸，有他總結的那種“intentionally naive",卻很難讓人喜愛或者去模仿，畢竟水溶在水裏，並不會立即兌換成閱讀的快感……
