安.拉莫特（Anne Lamott）
1954年生于旧金山。自马里兰州古彻学院（Goucher College）肄业后，便搬回旧金山湾区从事写作。1980年，推出第一本小说《大笑》（Hard Laughter），接下来出版的小说包括《萝西》（Rosie）（1983）、《乔琼斯》（Joe Jones）（1985），以及《所有新人》（All New People）（1989）。1993年推出根据个人经历写成的《幽默与勇气－－一个单亲妈妈的育儿日记》（Operating Instructions，中文版由方智出版）。1997年出版另一本小说《变调少女心》（Crooked Little Heart），其他著作包括《人生旅途中的恩赐：对信仰的一些思索》（Traveling Mercies: Some Thoughts on Faith）（1999）、《备份计划：对信仰的深入思索》（Plan B: Further Thoughts on Faith）（2005）。身为古根汉学术奖得主的安•拉莫特曾为《小姐》（Mademoiselle）杂志的书评专栏作家，也为《加州》杂志撰写过美食餐厅评论，并在加州大学戴维斯分校及全美各地多个写作研讨会教授写作。目前和儿子山姆定居加州圣拉斐尔。

Creative writing is not what I do everyday, I still enjoy this book. One psychologist used to say that literature, art, history and psychology all study human nature, only psychology uses the scientific method. I think he is right. And this book makes me appreciates how creative writers wants to say about human nature.

Writing can be a pretty desperate endeavor, because it is about some of our deepest needs: our need to be visible, to be heard, our need to make sense of our lives, to wake up and grow and belong.
