The book was more about the journey of Precious striving towards literacy. Honestly, I like the movie more.

You could go further than your mother. You could get your G.E.D. and go to college. You could do anything Precious but you gotta believe it.

纽约真的魔幻至极（哪个社会不呢？）哥大所在的W116充斥着来自世界各地的人赢，而往上走几条街的Harlem就是完全不一样的世界。当我们在全美最prestige的女校课堂里对性别和种族问题纸上谈兵的时候，当全班还会因为这本小说的内容收到教授的trigger warning邮件的时候，这一切都离我们几百米的位置时时刻刻地发生着。This is not a world for women and girls, yet nobody bats an eye.
