In January 2002 Rory Stewart walked across Afghanistan-surviving by his wits, his knowledge of Persian dialects and Muslim customs, and the kindness of strangers. 著者简介

RORY STEWART is the best-selling author of The Places in Between and The Prince of the Marshes. A former director of the Carr Centre for Human Rights Policy and Ryan Professor of Human Rights at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, he was awarded the Order of the British Empire for services in Iraq. He is the Conservative member of Parliament for Penrith and The Border, a constituency in Northern Cumbria, where he lives with his wife.

作者作为一个不善文笔的历史学家白瞎了从赫拉特到喀布尔的这段严冬的穿越之旅了，《纽约时报》是瞎了么，这种流水账一般的文笔还能被评为“10佳推荐书目”，不能看经历独特了就不管不顾啊。

对着卫星地图看书的感觉挺不错，翻译也还行，绝大多数书中出现的地名都比较容易在GE上找到。 不过，有三段书中写得特别难走的路，从卡门集过贾姆到恰赫恰兰，从卡特利什到雅卡乌兰、从班得阿米尔湖到沙伊丹，在卫星图看也是相当危险，过夜的小村子也无法准确的标出来。 Herat M...

我认为这本书还是挺有深度 从他所处的社会背景再到当地的人文历史 不同地区，不同文化程度，不同阶级的人有不同程度的处事方式 人们的思想被禁锢 但又希望冲破黑暗 作者在一方面再呼吁世界和平 不完用暴力解决问题 最喜欢里面的“巴布尔” 他不被人们尊重 虐待他 在登机的前一...
