作者简介
阿瑟·高顿（Arthur Golden），生于美国田纳西州查塔努加（Chattanooga），本科毕业于哈佛大学艺术史系，专攻日本艺术。1980年，获哥伦比亚大学日本史硕士学位，兼修中文。在北京大学进修一个夏季之后，他到东京工作。回到美国后他在波士顿大学获英文硕士学位。目前他与妻子和两个孩子定居马萨诸塞州布鲁克林。《艺伎回忆录》是其发表的第一部长篇小说。

My previous prejudice was discarded. A geisha's life was far beyond the struggles and truimphs. They at last made peace with strong emotions. Immersed in an enthralling world, I was impressed by the depiction of elegantly designed kimonos and taken back by the bid for virginity.

评分补标，文字描写的很细腻
评分老外写日本的故事也不容易. 改变的电影章子怡心和巩利的艺妓形象是给老美看的. 和日本艺妓形象还是有气质的不同.
评分多年前看的电影，因为中国人演日本艺伎就很不喜欢。拿起书本的时候，电影情节已经忘得一干二净，但阅读过程中理所当然地用章子怡、杨紫琼和巩俐的脸去脑补了这些角色。有时候文字的确能比电影更细腻地表达感情，这本就是例证。
