寫得很真切，很值得讀，作者在中國吃瞭那麼多苦依然能客觀的看中國，看普通的中國人，點贊。

In the memoir, Tim Clissold detailed how he helped the Wall Street fall in 400 million dollar investments. Old Shi, Chen Haijing and Madame Wu…these businessmen showed characteristics of China in 1990s. 我喜歡這本書多過Peter Hessler這個文青眼中的那個年代的中國。

作為一個在中國大陸工作瞭十六年的花街投資者，Tim Clissold懷著極大的誠意與善意記述瞭他接觸的人和事。他熱愛中文，請人刻過一方印，上書“落紅不是無情物，化作春泥更護花”；他不無敬佩的描寫中國人的聰明狡猾，彪悍現實，以及野心勃勃；他親眼目睹十幾年來中國的巨大改變，並心懷敬意；他深味這個國傢的眾多不足與無奈，卻對未來充滿信心。在本書的結尾，他寫道：“如果通過此書的創作，能令中國人看上去不是那麼的神秘可怕，而是和我們一樣有缺點卻又美麗的人類，那麼我之前所經曆的一切麻煩都很值得。”

作為90年代初最早一批來中國投資的歪果仁，一邊是美國成熟商業體係下大型投行的職業經理人，一邊是中國內陸鳥不拉屎的山溝裏計劃經濟體製下工廠的負責人，作者在兩路人馬迥異的經營與處世風格夾縫中之艱難求生曆程，我看著都替他腦殼痛。最精彩的部分當屬同時和好幾個投資工廠中的牛鬼蛇神鬥智鬥勇的故事，讓人看到剛改革開放時，麵臨經濟巨大轉型時社會其他方麵滯後導緻的各種問題，其實很多現在依然存在。
