開始發現翻開一本新書越發艱難起來

评分作為一個在中國大陸工作瞭十六年的花街投資者，Tim Clissold懷著極大的誠意與善意記述瞭他接觸的人和事。他熱愛中文，請人刻過一方印，上書“落紅不是無情物，化作春泥更護花”；他不無敬佩的描寫中國人的聰明狡猾，彪悍現實，以及野心勃勃；他親眼目睹十幾年來中國的巨大改變，並心懷敬意；他深味這個國傢的眾多不足與無奈，卻對未來充滿信心。在本書的結尾，他寫道：“如果通過此書的創作，能令中國人看上去不是那麼的神秘可怕，而是和我們一樣有缺點卻又美麗的人類，那麼我之前所經曆的一切麻煩都很值得。”
