评分作为一个在中国大陆工作了十六年的花街投资者,Tim Clissold怀着极大的诚意与善意记述了他接触的人和事。他热爱中文,请人刻过一方印,上书“落红不是无情物,化作春泥更护花”;他不无敬佩的描写中国人的聪明狡猾,彪悍现实,以及野心勃勃;他亲眼目睹十几年来中国的巨大改变,并心怀敬意;他深味这个国家的众多不足与无奈,却对未来充满信心。在本书的结尾,他写道:“如果通过此书的创作,能令中国人看上去不是那么的神秘可怕,而是和我们一样有缺点却又美丽的人类,那么我之前所经历的一切麻烦都很值得。”

评分写得很真切,很值得读,作者在中国吃了那么多苦依然能客观的看中国,看普通的中国人,点赞。
评分确实揭露了我国短视不讲信用一面的不堪,但是作者虽然来中国学习中国文化找机遇却不能放下身段,那有所吃亏和气氛就在所难免,书中大部分都在写中国的短处,但是作者之所以坚持这么多年还不断的扩大投资说明他还是尝到甜头的,但文中却只字未提,难免偏颇
