A divorced, middle-aged English professor finds himself increasingly unable to resist affairs with his female students. 復雜。語言簡單，內涵深刻而復雜。它也探討人或生命存在的意義。We live, in disgrace, in nothingness, and disappear. 男人的欲望也是觸及的主題之一。還有南非，南非艱難的社會環境。（我先後這裏遇到兩個南非同學，一男一女，都是白人，都說畢業後死也不迴去）。
