An experimental — yet exceedingly beautiful and moving — pursuit of the ultimate good intertwined with marriage and politics. With her pilgrimage towards the good, her detest of wealth and her neighborly love — to love and be loved — Dorothea is rightfully compared with Teresa or Virgin Mary. restart了多少次啊。。这次终于看完了。我想给六星。

其实我读的时候一直觉得在对婚姻隐忍道德的大框架下，其实漂浮着Eliot精妙设计的adultery impulse（double narrative progressions?）。典型的维多利亚偏重欢喜基调的结局。Middlemarch的‘middle"’，既是transition，又是commonness。
