卡爾·波蘭尼（Karl Polany，1886-1964）是20世紀公認的最徹底、最有辨識力的經濟史學傢。當法西斯主義興起時，他離開瞭齣生的匈牙利，成為英國公民。在其學術生涯中，曾先後在牛津大學的本寜頓學院和倫敦大學教書。著有《法西斯主義的本質》、《大轉型》和《達荷美和奴隸貿易》(與A．羅特施泰因閤作)等作品。

大傢手筆。Market society的發生和演進，內在的總體性危機和悖論。覺得還是前半部，從經濟體係、market pattern的演進到Speenhamland law寫得好。。。對double movement復雜曆史展開過程的論證還是主要走labor的路子

牛！宏觀視野的經濟學著作，同時又歷史知識豐富，揭示瞭第一、二次工業革命的"self-regulating"市場的共同社會心理，而且還字裡行間飽含著濃濃的人本主義情懷，極其尊重地方性知識。卡爾和麥剋這倆波蘭尼兄弟應該是從小互相在學術上砥礪著長大的吧？

#中文版當初沒讀懂，這次算是抓住瞭大意，但是具體的分析部分還是一知半解。

Rejects as utopian the ideal of self-regulated market. Analyzed the common cause of the great war and the rise of fascism - failure of market self-regulation and collapse of gold-standard system. A must read.
