著者简介

Ferrari 的古典學基礎強，引證 Isocrates 的 To Nicocles 說明城邦-人類比的歷史脈絡。他將 Glaukon 和 Adeimantus 詮釋為對政治憂心但無政治雄心的年輕人（稱為 quietism）我無法同意，特別是 Glaukon，他在我看來比較像是對政治特別感興趣，而不確定哲學是否有助於他的野心的年輕人。但整體說來是本很細心解讀此主題的書，對英美二十世紀的文獻回顧也頗周到（尤其是 Williams 和 Annas 很有影響但未必正確的詮釋）。
