Graham Greene (October 2, 1904 Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire – April 3, 1991 Vevey, Switzerland) was a prolific English novelist, playwright, short story writer and critic whose works explore the ambiguities of modern man in a contemporary setting. Some of his best works, like Brighton Rock and The Power and the Glory, are explicitly Roman Catholic in content and preoccupations. Others he termed "entertainments", although many of them likewise deal with ambivalent moral or political issues which had earned him a worldwide readership and following.

看似無辜的人，用瞭最殘忍的方式去證明自己的理念；看似無害的人，為瞭苟且殘存用身體做資本；看似懦弱老道的人，最後還是沒有辦法逃避真相的衝擊。 2015年讀的這本書，現在想再讀一下瞭。

喜歡關於Fowler飛行的那一段，日落時分，他從天空中往下看，看到紅河和沱江，他說，這時候沱江（黑河）已經不那麼渾瞭，紅河上閃著金光。
