著者簡介
B·格林，畢業於哈佛大學，在牛津大學獲博士學位，是羅德學者（Rhodes Scholars）。1990年，他來到康奈爾大學物理係，1995年被聘為教授，1996年到哥倫比亞大學任物理學和數學教授。他曾在20多個國傢開過普及和專業講座，公認在超弦理論中有過許多開拓性的發現。他現在住紐約綺色佳。

弦理论貌似很可能统一量子理论与广义相对论，而且还把以前未能解决的引力子包括了进去，实在是很美妙。宇宙中的一切事物都是。。。音乐。。。令人沉醉。
評分格林为弦论大家，该书也很清晰的描述了弦论领域的各种概念，尤其是在别的书里没看到的关于对偶原理的清晰表述（当然，更可能是我孤陋寡闻）。但是，这个气氛过于乐观了，如果结合李.斯莫林的《物理学的困惑》一起看的话，我想效果会更好。毕竟斯莫林既搞过弦论，也搞过圈量子力...

评分Good writing with a bad taste
评分前兩章入門級科普，接著有些跟不上瞭。高維空間極其依賴比喻，弦論本身也被比作音樂和弦。跟持混沌論的科學傢們不同，萬有理論總是喜歡反復強調其審美的成分，宇宙必須要“優雅”。
