Jazz is a music formed from a combination of influences. John Davis對爵士樂的瞭解總體算是比較全麵的，然而寫得卻不充足，以及這年頭沒人會去翻紙質詞典瞭。爵士樂的海洋太浩瀚，遠不是一本精裝硬皮書能涵蓋。關於爵士樂的書，通病是重傳統輕當代，JD寫當代顯然努力瞭——相比其他同行，然而篇幅還是遠不足。偏歐美，淡日本。雖然這本書於2012年齣版，內容看著卻像是2002年齣的。還是太晚，還是不到位。
