The Beauty Queen of Leenane was first presented as a Druid Theatre/Royal Court Theatre co-production in January 1996. Set in the mountains of Connemara, County Galway, The Beauty Queen of Leenane tells the darkly comic tale of Maureen Folan, a plain and lonely woman in her early forties, and Mag her manipulative ageing mother whose interference in Maureen's first and potentially last loving relationship sets in motion a train of events that is as gothically funny as it is horrific.

Life grinds you stir-crazy./The revelation with Pato wasn't convincing enough. Did she turn back in a frenzy knowing he had gone, and club Mag in despair? When did the false memory set in? How could it have been so like his wording? Seemed like a wee bit of cheating there. Maureen was also a bit too flatly vicious throughout, I don't know.
评分唯一不理解的梗就是Maureen說的那句You haven't been sniffing the paraffin lamps again? 這句颱詞到底是什麼意思？
评分看完劇本纔發現Project Rounabout版的舞颱劇除瞭必要的本土化，幾乎跟足劇本沒多少改動的，也終於讓我解開瞭看劇時的疑惑，原來最後並沒有反轉再反轉，隻反轉瞭一次，這樣邏輯就理順瞭。被睏山中的母女控製與反控製，互相摺磨的故事，母親要把女兒睏在身邊照顧自己，女兒則抓住所有機會要逃離。然而離開瞭的鄰居，則感覺自己不屬於任何地方。挺悲哀的兩難睏境。
