While why there is no labor party in the US is not a new topic, Archer compares Australia(rather than Canada, which has been used frequently) with the US to illustrate the weakness and historical condition of the labor associations in the US right before the formation of the two-party system. The metaphor of "apple pie" is definitely a bold claim.
