For centuries the accommodation between Japan and Christianity has been an uneasy one. Sometimes it is difficult to understand the slow and nearly no growth of Christianity in Japan, in light of the rapid growth in Korea and China. From cultural discontinuity, ancestral worship, nationalism, imperial worship, to the complicated societal reactions among the post-war generations, Mullins offers many insights into Japanese churches.
