This edition of "Tartuffe" follows in the tradition of Seamus Heaney's "Beowulf" with a new verse translation of Moliere's timeless play by acclaimed playwright Constance Congdon. 'Backgrounds and Sources' expands on The Quarrel of Tartuffe. Moliere's struggle to get permission to have the play performed and the ensuing controversy is documented in fourteen pieces. 'Criticism' is comprised of reviews and criticism of "Tartuffe". 'Essays' includes nine selections by contemporary scholars. A chronology and a bibliography are included.

“Human nature is liable to false suspicious and good is often construed as evil.”
Good story with a bad ending

评分my English literature class required reading material...
