Typical of Zhang's scholarly writing - he sees the problems, raises good questions, collects precise quotes, proposes sensible theoretical frameworks at least in the prelude, and then leaves them there. Issues with production, filmic representation, exhibition and reception are unorganically addressed under the umbrella of "polylocality" as a term.
