這麼一個簡單的鄉村故事，裏麵有多少東西啊。Eliot真是令人敬畏。她的道德議論也是如此飽滿、精確，讓人覺得沒有它們的世界是黯淡無神的。

艾略特的第一部長篇，已經凸顯齣鮮明的個人風格。穩重的筆觸，深刻的價值觀照，雖然部分敘述比較離題，但一到心理描寫的片段永遠能緊扣讀者的心弦。相比Dinah，更對Hetty心生惻隱。

这是一部世界名著，是两百年前的英国女作家乔治.艾略特的作品。写的是爱情故事，最后是“有情人终成眷属”。小说的笔触细腻，形容和描绘非常生动，尤其是描写景物时候，那美妙的词语层出不穷！文笔真赞！此书足以可以当学生们写作的教科书了。
