Within the setting of Hayslope, a small, rural community, Eliot brilliantly creates a sense of earthy reality, making the landscape itself as vital a presence in the novel as that of her characters themselves.

好则好已，但还是有两处硬伤：1）文中没有显示Hetty有孕，以至于后来的杀子情节略突兀；2）亚当与蒂娜的爱情和婚姻没有铺垫，导致结尾显得蹩脚。

评分好则好已，但还是有两处硬伤：1）文中没有显示Hetty有孕，以至于后来的杀子情节略突兀；2）亚当与蒂娜的爱情和婚姻没有铺垫，导致结尾显得蹩脚。
评分这么一个简单的乡村故事，里面有多少东西啊。Eliot真是令人敬畏。她的道德议论也是如此饱满、精确，让人觉得没有它们的世界是黯淡无神的。

读后感
一年多没读艾略特，这是假期读完的第一本小说，也是艾略特写的第一部长篇。感觉跟她后期作品相比，更加符合一部典型的维多利亚小说的特点。故事主人公经历了一系列事件，内心渐臻成熟完满，成长为一名理想的社会成员，故事的结尾则是皆大欢喜的婚姻。与她后期思想一致，文中已...
