Yung Wing was unique. He was born in southern China in 1828, before the Opium Wars, and became the first Chinese person to graduate from a major US college. 看了容闳回忆录，很细致。能够从主观角度，了解19世纪赴美留学的中国人的生活，以及回到中国之后如何找工作，如何会国家做出贡献，而做出的种种抉择。还能知道清朝人与外国人交流的状况。从外国传教士开始，到外国船员，到外国买办，中国人和外国人的交流不断加深。
