John Berger's Ways of Seeing is one of the most stimulating and influential books on art in any language. First published in 1972, it was based on the BBC television series about which the (London) Sunday Times critic commented: "This is an eye-opener in more ways than one: by concentrating on how we look at paintings... he will almost certainly change the way you look at pictures." By now he has.
著者簡介
John Berger was born in London in 1926. He is well known for his novels and stories as well as for his works of nonfiction, including several volumes of art criticism. His first novel, A Painter of Our Time, was published in 1958, and since then his books have included the novel G., which won the Booker Prize in 1972. In 1962 he left Britain permanently, and he lives in a small village in the French Alps.

评分非常有名的小冊子，讀過中文版，無意間發現當當上居然有賣原版的。嗬嗬。。。急著再看john berger當年的這本的“名著”
评分以為是純藝術的書沒想到是反思油畫文化和批判資本主義的…那3篇圖片論文沒看懂，然而文字部分寫得太好瞭，觀察入微且非常尖刻，在開罵之前的論述觀點獨到而且詳盡也是很令我長見識。寫的都是我特彆感興趣的話題：藝術品的解釋權壟斷；女性客體化；藝術和占有之間的關係；對消費主義的批判。

评分愛死老頭子瞭。很有啓發性的小書，而且一點也不裝腔作勢。
