Terrorism. Terror. Two words appearing more often in our society nowadays. What do they really mean? What is really so frightening about terrorism? And maybe even more important, what is the effect of terrorism on our tiny little country?
Students of the Eindhoven Design Academy, Faculty of Man and Communication, have worked on a project about the representation of terrorism under the guidance of designer and teacher Annelys de Vet. In collaboration with Freek Lomme, director of Eindhoven based presentation-institution and publishing company Onomatopee, a book and exposition became the result of this.
Through beautiful pictures and designs the students give view in the way our society is in the grasp of the term terrorism. They have researched the most diverse subjects, resulting in an explosion of interpretations of this hot and important theme. The current term terrorism in this way is being got by the short hairs. Who or what is terrorizing your life? Maybe also your phone is a main terrorist and you try to hide this. How is the word terrorism being defined in daily life, used and disabused in the media? How does a terrorist type face look like? Hofstadgroep member Jason B. is discussed from an unexpected side, namely from an ex-classmate. How can terrorism be sold as a product? Introduced by a preface of Max Bruinsma.
