The Collected Poems of W. B. Yeats，中文译名《叶芝诗选》，叶芝一生中献给女神茅德•冈的爱情诗歌，分别选自他的诗集Crossways, The Rose, The Wind among the Reeds, In the Seven Woods, The Green Helmet, Responsibilities, The Wild Swans at Coole, Michael Robartes and the Dancer, The Tower, The Winding Stair, Lost Poems.茅德说：“世界会因为我没有嫁给你而心怀感激。”而叶芝说：“我所有的诗，都献给茅德•冈。”

1889年1月30日，叶芝和茅德•冈初次邂逅，从此开始了一生的沉迷纠葛。“她伫立窗畔，身旁盛开着一大团苹果花；她光彩夺目，仿佛自身就是阳光……”

之后28年里，叶芝多次向茅德求婚，却多次被拒，直到五十多岁才不得不与他人结婚。1923年，叶芝获得诺贝尔文学奖。1939年，叶芝去世，茅德没有参加葬礼。

威廉•巴特勒•叶芝（William Butler Yeats，1865—1939）

爱尔兰诗人、剧作家，“爱尔兰文艺复兴运动”的领袖，艾比剧院的创建者。童年时期，他对爱尔兰的民间传说产生了巨大兴趣，这为他日后创作《凯尔特的薄暮》提供了素材。1889年，他结识了此后爱恋一生的人——茅德•冈。1923年，叶芝获诺贝尔文学奖。
