The Wizard of Oz，中文译名《绿野仙踪》，讲述了一场精彩绝伦的奇幻冒险，堪萨斯州的小姑娘多萝西和她的小狗托托被一阵威力无比的龙卷风吹到了奥兹国，为了回到家乡，回到收养她这个孤儿的亨利叔叔和艾姆婶婶身边，她遇到种种惊险，经历了千辛万苦。在她的漫长旅程中，不断有新的伙伴加入进来：一心想要得到能够思索的脑子的稻草人，一味想要一颗活跃的心的铁皮伐木工，还有拼命想要获得勇气的胆小的狮子。他们在加入这个队伍以前，各有自己的遭遇，却在旅途过程中彼此成了亲密的旅伴。他们患难与共，喜悦同享，一起度过了那些不可思议的奇特经历，最后都实现了各自的心愿。
作者简介
弗兰克·鲍姆L.Frank Baum (1856－1919)
儿童文学作家。
出生于美国纽约州奇特南戈一个富商之家。
自幼爱幻想，受父亲启发开始提笔写作。
一生共创作55部小说，83个短篇故事，以及200余首诗歌。
处女作《鹅妈妈故事集》于1897年问世。
时隔三年，《绿野仙踪》出版，连续两年成为美国最畅销童书。
此后二十年间，又以奥兹国为背景创作了13部系列小说。
1939年，米高梅电影公司将《绿野仙踪》搬上大荧幕，成为影史经典。
