漢剋斯以其演員的幽默和洞察力剖析瞭現代社會人類的尷尬處境及其所有弱點，很多細節令人啞然失笑。在這些故事中，古董打字機都扮演著重要的角色，它代錶失傳的技巧、被遺忘的美感、從容的精神和優雅的氣度。
著者簡介
湯姆•漢剋斯，1956年7月9日生於美國康科德，美國影視演員。1993年主演《費城故事》一片獲得奧斯卡最佳男主角奬。1994年主演《阿甘正傳》又一次贏得奧斯卡最佳男主角奬。1995年，他開始為《玩具總動員》係列主角之一的鬍迪配音。1999年參演影片《拯救大兵瑞恩》。2006年，他主演的《達•芬奇密碼》在全球獲得7.6億美元的票房。
除此之外，他還是一位古董打字機收藏愛好者，收藏範圍從1930年代到1990年代，包括手動、便攜式等多種類型的打字機。2014年，他還在蘋果商店上綫瞭一款模擬打字機的文字編輯軟件Hanx Writer，登上過暢銷榜首位。
