Curious adventure that those three academicians who, from one day to the next, abandoning part of their usual activities, decide to devote themselves to the toddlers of the primary school, helping their masters to make them discover and love science! Inspired by both tried-and-tested but largely neglected pedagogical practices in our schools, and inspiring experiences from across the Atlantic, here they are proposing to the Minister of National Education, in 1995, as La hand in hand, a revival of science education at school, getting the support of the Academy of Sciences, creating around them enthusiastic teams, establishing multiple partnerships and raising, in the faculty here, an amused skepticism and a flawless adherence. "Science," they said, makes this superb gift to the child to refine his imagination, to encourage his curiosity, to stimulate his manual talents, to initiate him to the discovery, to train him to the intellectual rigor, to reinforce his mastery of the language and to open it to the universal. Old-fashioned evidence? Certainly, but still to re-invent. Ten years later, here is the story of a success, but also proposed ways for a new project to the college.
