著者簡介
Michael Ondaatje is the author of six previous novels, a memoir, a nonfiction book on film, and several books of poetry. The English Patient won the Booker Prize; Anil's Ghost won the Irish Times International Fiction Prize, the Giller Prize, and the Prix Médicis. Born in Sri Lanka, Michael Ondaatje now lives in Toronto.

4 把二戰這個爛大街的題材玩齣新花樣不是易事，把視角放在追尋真相的少年身上，真正的主角是戰後處於迷霧夜色裡的英國。離Ondaatje最好的水平有一段距離，但還是足夠精彩細膩。Rose延續他筆下女主背負著神秘過去的歷史，在天空翱翔自由的Olive有點像Anil，反而男主角最後那個驚天秘密頗為狗血。
评分讀翁達傑的文字需要耐心和智慧，看透碎片式敘述之後藏著的那些聯係，如同最後發現的Agnes縫好掛在牆上的毯子，full of codes and unspoken agonies. 雖然跟英國病人的宏大比，這本關於冷戰的諜戰小說有些重復，但有那麼幾句話，讓人心頭一緊。 We change, we evolve. We are what we are for all our sufferings and mistakes in the past. 結尾那段宛若對這本小說囈語般敘述方式的反映：We order our lives with barely held stories. As if we have been lost in a confusing landscape.
评分封麵很傳神瞭：故事中加上迷霧、噪點，是倫敦的基調是戰爭的暗湧。作者的筆觸是往故事上營造其顆粒感，過期膠捲與雙重曝光。初期如同愛麗絲漫遊仙境般，有種探險的刺激感。隨著故事往前推進，就不再是一場愉悅的冒險瞭。是英國病人的味道（並未讀過其他小說），語言依舊很美，但更為緻鬱一些。沒想到後麵還有講到……布局也是很精心。有時候確實是能猜到故事的走嚮，所以可能略有點刻意。

评分一口氣看完瞭。喜歡！保留瞭英國病人的詩一樣的語言和精美的記憶片段拼接圖一樣的講述方法，但是故事比英國病人要緊湊易讀。fascinating to see his characters in the city...
