覺得前麵有些枯燥無味不過後半部分精彩

很刺激的一本小說，藉給同事看瞭後她問我這是紀實的嗎，感覺寫得特彆真實

封麵的一句話文案（“紐約第一個連環殺手的落網”）和開頭幾章對一些曆史人物（包括但不限於羅斯福和芝加哥的著名連環殺手霍爾姆斯醫生）的提及會讓人誤以為這是個true crime類的“曆史再現”類故事——作者好像當初也用類似的手法忽悠過他的編輯。不過這是個純虛構的案件。除瞭羅斯福之外，負責破案的幾位都是虛構人物，整體的風格像是試圖用剛剛被發明的科學破案手段和心理學理論，在19世紀末的紐約尋找一個作案手法跟“開膛手傑剋”一樣血腥的連環殺手。移民開始湧入的年代的紐約入夜後光怪陸離的樣子被寫得有點像狄更斯的倫敦，時代感和驚悚感都設計得很到位，隻齣場一次的角色也都很有辨識度。

不記得哪位作傢寫過:偵探小說傢寫作有套路，總是帶著讀者的心來進行一場“旅行”，但令人討厭的是他們控製節奏，總是忍不住顯擺自己的知識。 我覺得這部小說很符閤這一評價。特彆是結尾，都過去23年瞭，還沒有交代醫生研究齣來多重人格，那麼這幾段純粹就是多餘的，結尾就在當年結案好瞭。
