一名正直的记者、一位聪明精神病学家、两位前卫的警探外加一位勇敢的秘书组成了一个神秘的侦探组织，面对作案手法令人发指的连环杀人凶手，血腥的杀人现场、零零星星的案件碎片，更有暗中政治势力的角力。本书作者通过一种很舒畅的方式，如同喝着啤酒听着讨论，如同画面一般欣赏着侦探们的抽丝剥茧，惩治真凶。

前半部分读着，有纪实文学的文笔特点，一度以为这篇连环杀手的故事是改编自真人真事。文风偏向纪实文学，也就难免在节奏的紧张上、案情的扑朔迷离上、悬念的抓人上，略逊一筹，读着犯困。直到后三分之一开始关注犯罪动机，以及构成这种动机的行为特征、造成犯罪性格的追根溯源，也就开始越来越有意思。一个孩子的成长，他的父母、兄弟、朋友，以及成长过程中遇到的关键人，所发生的关键事件，都会对年轻的心灵成型造成影响。可能是正面的，也可能是负面的，可能是一时的，也可能是一世的，可能如水波轻点水晕散开也就静了，也可能是波涛汹涌迟迟无法平息。研究犯罪行为，心理必不可少，心理背后成因的剖析，才有利于从根源上杜绝犯罪、发现犯罪。

很中规中矩的初级犯罪心理探案内容，但是悬疑感太差强人意了，很多逻辑有点突然，里面设计的政治背景和人物个性也有点尴尬，不是很抓人。尤其是核心对于凶手的解读不过瘾，无论从学术上还是艺术上来说。

故事情节很棒，以为是纪实文学，后记才知道是虚构的小说。
