William Somerset Maugham nWilliam Somerset Maugham (25 January 1874-16 December 1965) was a British playwright， novelist and short story writer. He was among the most popular writers of his era and reputedly the highest paid author during the 1930s. nAfter losing both his parents by the age of 10， Maugham was raised by a paternal uncle who was emotionally cold. Not wanting to become a lawyer like other men in his family， Maugham eventually trained and qualified as a doctor. The first run of his first novel， Liza of Lambeth (1897)， sold out so rapidly that Maugham gave up medicine to write full-time. n During the First World War， he served with the Red Cross and in the ambulance corps， before being recruited in 1916 into the British Secret Intelligence Service， for which he worked in Switzerland and Russia before the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917. During and after the war， he traveled in India and Southeast Asia; all of these experiences were reflected in later short stories and novels.

平淡无聊的工作之余看的原版，陆陆续续地读了快3个月。对整本书的印象谈不上多好，一方面可能是英文水平仍有待提高，无法自如地欣赏作者的遣词造句；另一方面，确实是觉得这样的主角实在太渣，以至不能对这样的生活产生任何共情。甚至我在想，这些其实本来也不怎么存在于最高尚...

其實沒有get到這本書的點，估計我隻看懂瞭故事情節，但是還不足以體會到文法？

评分這雞湯太老太生硬瞭，價值觀沒問題？自我陶醉的最高境界，就是個精神病。 如果他畫瞭二十多年還是一坨屎呢？難道隻要結果是成功的，所有的錯都是閤理的？都可以解讀為成功的必要條件？邪惡靈魂的作品能善良嗎？誰沒個愛好呢，誰都可以不顧一切去追求自己想做的事，因為不負責任是最簡單的，是最原始的獸性，都不需要學習，跟隨內心就好瞭。這種原始的行為是自然的，何必非要引申的太崇高？ 所謂的藝術品隻在極少數同好者眼裏有價值，齣瞭圈子，隻是可有可無的東西，可能都不值6便士，更不能和月亮相比。
