本書圍繞“新型城鎮化建設”主題展開，邀請業內專傢參與話題討論，探討當下社會語境下城鄉建設與發展的話題，為全國的設計企業提供參考，推動行業發展。重在解決相關行業如何通過自身的蛻變和轉型保護生態本底而不是斷送綠色生境，如何善待文化而不是肆意篡改等社會熱門問題。

在十八大會議上，李剋強總理提齣瞭“新四化”即工業化、信息化、城鎮化、農業現代化的國傢戰略發展目標。新型城鎮化，將成為中國經濟增長和社會發展的強大引擎。

新型城鎮化眾望所歸，全國各地已經如火如荼。為瞭避免現實與目標的背道而馳，必須清醒地認識到中國富源遼闊、各地的生態、經濟、社會、文化韆差萬彆，麵臨的機遇和挑戰也各自不同。大中城市發展的慘痛經驗和教訓曆曆在目，因此，絕不能再采取均質的目標、策略、路徑等剋隆和復製的手段來斷送廣大鄉村的青山綠水、美麗鄉愁和文化之根。

規劃設計是城鄉建設發展的龍頭，規劃設計和景觀設計如何麵對全新課題，通過自身的蛻變和轉型保護生態本底而不是斷送綠色生境？如何善待文化而不是肆意篡改？如何剋服地産和土地財政的慣性和惰性去塑造詩意的棲居？

中國建築文化中心是住房和城鄉建設部直屬科研事業單位。1997年經中編辦批準成立。中國建築文化中心始終以弘揚、傳播中國建築文化為己任，以竭誠為建設行業服務為目標，始終奉行誠信社會、廣交朋友的原則，紮實做好每一件事，精心打造品牌。通過推進內部改革，提高自身素質，整閤社會資源，開拓業務空間，在很短的時間裏，實現瞭由創業到發展的轉變。到目前為止，中國建築文化中心已經形成瞭國際交流、會議論壇、行業培訓、技術谘詢、展覽展示、模型製作、城市雕塑管理、建築圖書閱覽與展示等多方位傳播建築文化、服務建設行業的能力。
