Caitlin Doughty is a licensed mortician and the host and creator of the "Ask a Mortician" web series. She founded the death acceptance collective The Order of the Good Death and cofounded Death Salon. She lives in Los Angeles.

评分The most witty book that I read, and the topic of death has occurred to me thousands of times. I have a friend who dies at Berkeley, on Shuttuck Ave that appears in this book, and his funeral service is hold in Oakland, the same place the stories happened in the book. This makes this book so real-life to me, and it does make me feel much better
评分死亡是一個很禁忌的話題，但是作者卻把這個話題寫得輕鬆，幽默卻不乏思考。在作者講述完畢她自己的經曆之後，在書的最後幾章裏提到對死亡的思考，對死亡儀式的尊重，對什麼是好的死亡的理解，把這本書收尾在最秒之處。非常好的閱讀體驗。
评分與其說它寫死亡教育，不如說是關於生命教育。死亡是生活中注定會發生的事情，但是現代人刻意將其掩蓋起來，變成充滿恐懼，不安以及焦慮的意外事件。這書有中譯本，我看英文原版覺得閱讀體驗非常好，筆觸靜謐深邃，文筆優美流暢。從現實到曆史到中世紀文化亞馬遜部落的儀式細密無縫地交織在一起。很抓人，又很觸動。
评分殯儀館裏的死亡思考，在一個對死亡隱而不論的社會，很獵奇，也很敬畏。最好的部分其實是作者進入亡者世界的契機，童年時目睹小女孩慘死的心理陰影，「讓每個人能夠整潔而美好地離開」的理由纔是動人的。也許是對死亡本身都沒有任何實感，所以一直覺得死亡對於我而言不會造成任何恐慌，更多的是宿命論的無謂感。我恐慌的是疾病，而非死亡。但看完之後覺得，在處理遺體這件事上，還蠻認同作者這種佛係態度的，最好能迴到自然去(不過關於屍體不會産生病菌和威脅生命健康這點還沒有完全信服
