开山之作...读后就觉得近年来的Near East Studies写的东西好没新意啊，哈哈。
评分全书最出彩最有趣的几个章节还是在用福柯。不过我倒挺喜欢他把涂尔干给牵过来的做法。（忘了有人是怎么评价福柯和涂尔干的关系了，福柯把涂尔干给倒过来了还是咋地了。。。=,=）
评分a heavy theoretical work using Foucault, Derrida, Said
评分用world-as-exhibition勾连海德格尔（现代条件下的世界图景和技术座架）和福柯（现代性对于社会和个人的塑造和生产的技术；福柯谈episteme/grid实在不外于海德格尔），并应用于殖民权力的分析
评分a pre and post Said classic. Chap. 5 seems to me the most scintillating part.
