From 1722 to the present, thousands of people of African descent have occupied the region that today encompasses Natchitoches Parish. For almost 300 years, African Americans have made significant contributions to the areas economic and social development. In Natchitoches Parish, the lives of some of those individuals are documented as they share their views on work, religion, education, socialization, and community leadership.
