是很珍贵的史料无疑了哥伦布的航行日记不同于Vespucci 他在第一次航行之后就对具体所到之处的遭遇和情况不再感兴趣因而日记越往后越无聊越来越倾向于大谈自己被不公地对待、自己多么虔诚、功劳多么大、多么应该被授以美洲总督的使命等等这也侧面反映了他一开始这件事时候的动机是经济的或者一种以政治为目的的宗教诉求。当一次次被事实挫败，非但发现的不是亚洲，而且没有那么多财富的时候，他是失望的，即使在信中一再强调重要性也无济于事了。后继者很快就调整了姿态一场轰轰烈烈的殖民也已经悄悄拉开序幕但哥伦布自己已完全没法跟上帝国的步伐了
