What a rich array of talents is brought to
Hospice by our Volunteers! In James Hailer,
Seacoast Hospice in Exeter, New Hampshire,
acquired a master chef ready to learn from those
who are ill and their families; ready to respond
with creative genius, simplicity, humour and
considerable flarel
Too often, the pureed, tasteless culinary
offerings that find their way to the bedside only
add to the anorexic nightmare, depression and
reinforced isolation of serious illness. "So much
of my identity, my culture, my memories of
community are tied to eating. Is there nothing
that can be done for this loss of appetite; my
lurking nausea; that metallic taste in my
mouth?"
