Chiang Yee left China in 1933, a civil servant forced into exile. Separated from his wife and four children, he threw himself into his passions travelling, writing, and painting. Chiang was, in his own words, "dazzled" by the Scottish capital and he paints an unforgettable picture of Edinburgh and its people in the 1940s.
