著者簡介
二十世紀下半時期最具影響力的藝術史學傢之一Michael Baxandall近日去世。Baxandall曾在意大利的 Pavia大學和德國慕尼黑大學就讀。他的作品 The Limewood Sculptors of Renaissance Germany齣版後，引起很大反響。此書曾獲得藝術史 Mitchell奬。他曾擔任 Victoria 和 Albert博物館建築和雕塑係的助理監護人, 在那裏工作的四年裏，他一直緻力於德國雕塑的研究。首部作品 Giotto and the Orators齣版後，Baxandall 獲邀，成為牛津大學的美術教授。1987年，他成為加州大學柏剋萊分校藝術史的兼職教授。
