Michael J. Sandel is the Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Professor of Government at Harvard University, where he has taught since 1980, and the author of many books. He lives in Brookline, Massachusetts.

评分經濟市場迅速崛起的一大後遺癥就是我們習慣用金錢來解決問題，並且堅信隻要能解決問題的辦法就是好辦法。如今中國社會到處是對金錢的崇拜，和我們當初隻追求結果，不問手段的方式是分不開的。等到發現世風日下，想恢復民風，纔發現，再也迴不去。桑德斯的書給齣瞭問題，卻給不齣答案。麵對很多問題，我們束手無策，資本也因此無孔不入，比如在中國就醫、上學，普通百姓似乎無處不被金錢裹挾。但如果我們因為難，而放棄瞭金錢以外的所有辦法，我想那纔是真正的末路。
