Rothbard's most famous monetary essay has appeared in multiple editions and influenced two generations of economists, investors, and businessmen. After presenting the basics of money and banking theory, he traces the decline of the dollar from the 18th century to the present, and provides lucid critiques of central banking, New Deal monetary policy, Nixonian fiat money, and fixed exchange rates. He also provides a blueprint for a return to a 100 percent reserve gold standard.
著者簡介
莫瑞·羅斯巴德是奧地利經濟學派的代錶人物，生前主要擔任內華達大學經濟學S. J. Hall講座傑齣教授。他曾任米塞斯研究院（Ludwig von Mises Institute）學術事務副會長，也曾任《奧地利經濟學評論》（Review of Austrian Economics）的編輯。羅斯巴德教授在哥倫比亞大學取得學士、碩士和博士學位，師承約瑟夫‧朵夫曼（Joseph Dorfman）。他也長期參與紐約大學舉辦的米塞斯研討會達十多年。

评分講真，為瞭學英語來讀的話，不建議，有很多經濟學專用名詞。不過算是很好的貨幣知識普及書
评分貨幣與通貨膨脹的入門小書，學瞭微觀經濟學後再看的確要輕鬆不少，但宏觀的部分就不是很理解瞭。書裏對fractional reserve banking概念的引入與分析很棒。按書中的分析來看，利用“杠杆”的運作方式，銀行業天生就是個高利潤的行業。在瑞士這個盛産銀行傢的國度，這種感覺尤為強烈。
评分Money is a commodity and is only useful as a medium of exchange; the price of money is determined by supply and law, same as the other goods; but it won't be used up hence the increase of money supply doesn't confer monetary benefits; fiat money has a tendency to inflate the economy
