I thought it was going to be a cliche Love In The Time of Cholera story, but when Maugham closed the loop in the last 15 chapters, I thought of it better. The heroine reminds me of Kitty in Anna Karenina - vain and foolish, then transformed after an encounter with the nuns/involvement in charitable work. They even share the same name!

评分多年前下到kindle裏麵的一個版本，不確定是否是這一本。書裏會有一些富有時代和地域特質的詞匯，但重復率頗高，不影響整體閱讀體驗。早前電影和有聲書都欣賞過幾遍，但原著還是非常不同凡響的。毛姆粉一定要讀。
