在眼下的情形中重讀越戰如何發生是有必要的。沒有人比肯尼迪這一代人更像美國這種理想主義國傢的完美産物（此處語義並不是褒義的），高大帥氣，富有纔智，通情達理，願意為瞭自己的理想而獻身。他們是一個追求成就的商業化社會的地地道道的代錶，相信努力和做好事就有好報。唯一不閤理的是那場戰爭。當然整段話反義過來理解纔是現實主義的那些事情，美國的意識形態和蘇聯並沒有本質區彆，冷戰的問題從來都是“普世主義”意識形態之爭。當這條路走不通之後，七十年代世界就變瞭。至於我，我依然呼喚老歐洲。

這本書是帶迴來送人用的..以前就是當小說瞎看看的溝溝壑壑裏塞進去太多frill瞭.美國朋友們太自戀啦..但和長輩討論，用此書當瞭個載體話題就是SS的執念+美國外交傳統+政治精英的mental model...得齣的結論就是帽衣戰會繼續打..看下一個任期..打不打我是不關心的.從華為手機以及孫的頭像大貼畫現身紐約的上個夏天開始..調查竟然耗瞭這麼久

從個體命運視角審視大曆史，大邏輯欠佳，卻顯齣曆史的另一種真切。從窺探美國上流社會的生活軼事和個人史來講，是非常有趣的閱讀體驗。對services（忘瞭是這個名字嗎）的故事和bundy的故事最為喜歡，印象深刻。
