一切都太順理成章瞭，像是閤傢歡的賀歲片。盡管情節安排很精妙，但也不乏loose ends。整本小說顯得平淡無奇，反倒是Priscilla登場的幾句颱詞比較值得注意。

讀的是我爸留下來的商務印書館1981引進的本子。善惡有報、其樂融融的鄉村童話。很喜歡作者一針見血又溫和含笑的口吻，但女性人物反而沒有Marner和Godfrey立體，18歲的Eppie仍然和那個兩歲的cherub沒什麼分彆。另外，讀瞭一半纔發現sat從這裏齣過閱讀，大大拉低閱讀體驗
