In this sixth volume of the yearbook, renowned architects, scientists, and municipal planners explore the current state of building in Germany through a presentation of recent federal building and planning projects. Included are alterations to Schloss Bellevue, renovated to fit the presidential seat; the Pei-Building of the German Historical Museum; restoration and alteration of the former Bonn government building; the new German embassy in Kiev; the renovation and reconstruction of the multi-structure German Academy Villa Massimo in Rome; the 1870s patrician villa in Alexandria which houses the Goethe Institute; and the Beauharnais Palace in Paris. A look into the future reveals competition results for the German embassy in Warsaw, the headquarters for the Federal Environment Ministry in Berlin, and the German School in Geneva. The place of art in these projects is represented by the roof landscapes for the Foreign Ministry and Defense Ministry. The authors of this ambassadorial volume further contribute to the dialogue on urban and architectural planning by developing ideas for the Berlin Kulturforum and debating the place of high-rises in European cities.
