作者身为犹太裔美国人，分别从阿拉伯视角、以色列视角以及美籍犹太人视角介绍了上世纪七八十年代的以巴局势，外加黎巴嫩和叙利亚问题，相对比较客观。此外对以色列内部各个群体的心理剖析尤为精彩，细腻得让我吃惊：世俗犹太人，正统派，极端正统派，以色列籍阿拉伯人。相形之下巴勒斯坦视角则苍白许多，有点讽刺。PLO成立已过去半个世纪，现实似乎并没有往前迈进多少。
