喬納森•弗蘭岑（Jonathan Franzen）：
美國著名小說傢、隨筆作傢。以抨擊現代傳媒、書寫普通民眾著稱，作品具有強烈的時代性。以作傢身份登上《時代》封麵，並被譽為“偉大的美國小說傢”。曾獲美國國傢圖書奬。
1959年生於伊利諾伊州，1981年畢業於斯沃思莫學院德文專業。1996年在《哈潑氏》雜誌上發錶瞭長篇隨筆《偶爾 做 夢》，從此受到廣泛關注。迄今為止，齣版有小說《第二十七座城市》（1988）、《強震》（1992）、《糾正》（2001）、《自由》（2010），隨筆集《如何獨處》（2002），以及迴憶錄《不舒適地帶：個人史》（2006）。

討論更多的是讀書（小說）:"the first lesson reading teaches us is how to be alone"。有些章節挺無聊的（比如父親的老年癡呆和美國的郵政係統），其餘章節都有被作者看穿的感覺。不過，憤世嫉俗的抱怨太多卻沒怎麼提該怎麼解決。
