《信息英語――信息源與信息獲取》是一本引導信息管理專業學生以及其他英語專業學生熟悉並學會使用各種信息資源的選讀課本。本書將信息資源分為印刷資料和非印刷資料兩大部分，分彆進行介紹，涉及到圖書館信息中心館藏、聯機數據庫服務、光盤數據庫服務和國際網絡資源，提供瞭幫助讀者獲取所要查詢的信息的不同方法。本書特彆介紹瞭圖書結構、圖書索引和其他查詢工具，各種圖書館目錄，如卡片目錄和計算機目錄等；重點地介紹瞭各種新型的信息服務，如多媒體數據庫服務和國際網絡服務；還特彆介紹瞭幾個重要的美國數據庫服務公司。總之，本閱讀教材的目的在於幫助專業學生和其他讀者瞭解他們做學問時有哪些可能的信息資源可供他們使用，以及到何處去查詢到這些信息，從而滿足他們的信息需求。為瞭使學生和其他讀者在使用信息資源、查詢信息方麵取得一些實際經驗，本書還設計瞭整套的課後作業，供學生和讀者練習。為瞭幫助學生和其他讀者更好地理解每課討論的內容，本書編者在每課之後係統地設計瞭一些練習以便學生和其他讀者進行課文內容練習和英語詞匯學習。
